Greetings, I’m Mercedes. Let me introduce myself.

Since childhood, I’ve been driven by a deep passion for making a social impact and the power of storytelling to inspire change. Growing up in mid-Missouri, I volunteered with local organizations as early as age 10, later advocating for global rights campaigns throughout high school. I’ve always believed that language and imagery have the power to make a real impact.

A pivotal moment in my journey occurred during a Contemporary Issues class, where I engaged with thought leaders such as Noam Chomsky, First Lady Laura Bush, and Dr. Jim Yong Kim. I read firsthand accounts of humanitarian work, marched over 60 miles in support of fair-trade workers, and immersed myself in the stories of people and cultures directly affected by global injustices. This experience led me to pursue a humanities degree in Political Science and Technical Writing, where I continued my advocacy by leading book drives, working on the Invisible Children campaign, and interning with CACCEL and the Springfield Urban Agriculture Coalition.

Over the last decade, I’ve honed my expertise in crafting compelling narratives across various industries—from resume writing and brand storytelling to health and accident insurance, as well as communications. My graduate studies in Communications and Marketing Research & Analytics have deepened my ability to conduct in-depth research, analyze data-driven insights, and develop impactful content strategies. While these roles expanded my professional skill set, a year-long hiatus after breaking my hand reminded me of my true calling: serving the humanities, whether through human rights advocacy, community and social development, public affairs, or ethical business development.

Now, I’m eager to bring my skills in writing, research, and strategic communications to more entrepreneurs and organizations committed to human dignity, social justice, advocacy, and beyond. If your company is seeking a storyteller who can amplify voices, translate complex issues into compelling content, and drive meaningful engagement, I’d be delighted to connect.

Let’s start a conversation about how I can help elevate your mission.
